Summers in Maine were a great part of growing up.
One of my Grandmother's favorite things was to take us on the mailboat out to the Cranberry Isles, off of Mt. Desert Island. She'd sit and watch the water and the boats for hours, as my sister and I looked for sand dollars and seaglass and swam in the insanely cold water. I loved the bits of glass worn smooth by years of wear in the ocean.
Now, when I return to Maine with my own kids, I can't quite make myself get in that water, but I do still look for seaglass. This is a piece I found on one of those trips.
A lovely piece of cornflower blue seaglass, set it in 14k recycled gold setting, with a lightly crimped bezel, and delicate beading top and bottom. The beaded slide is almost an inch wide, and the pendant is over 1 1/4 inches long.
The pendant is strung on a coffee-colored leather cord, which adjusts with two slip knots. The necklace can be worn as a snug choker or extended up to 25 inches.
I love this piece of blue, and it's an unusual color of seaglass to find!
